Grand Canyon's Iegor Lytvenok and Michael Bidak have been named the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Oct. 5-11.
Lytvenok's time in the 200 IM is an NCAA B qualifying time. It is also presently the fastest 200 IM time in DI so far this season. The time has a CollegeSwimming.com performance score of 819. The senior's time in the 200 Free is an NCAA B qualifying time. It is presently the 7th fastest time in DI so far this season. It has a CollegeSwimming.com performance score of 813. Lytvenok's time in the 200 Back has a CollegeSwimming.com performance score of 660.
Bidak finished first in both diving events in Bakersfield this weekend, earning a strong 294.75 finish in the one-meter before following it up with a 283.35 win on the three-meter dive.
Other swimmer nominees: CSU Bakersfield's Lovre Soric won the 100 free in a time of 46.11, faster than his best time from a year ago and under 1.5 seconds outside of the CSUB Top 5 all-time. The sophomore also gave the ‘Lopes a run in the 200 IM and 200 free as well as Soric earned second place in both events. Michael Barnosky of Air Force won events at the Colorado Intermountain Shootout to lead Air Force to wins over BYU and Colorado Mesa. The win over BYU was the team's first since 2011. Barnosky also swam on the 200 medley relay team that won with a time of 1:28.73.
