DENVER -
CSU Bakersfield senior outside hitter Kelsee Sawyer has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 12-18. This is her first WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and the second of her career.

The Temecula, Calif., native led the Roadrunners to a pair of road wins last week, averaging 4.81 points, 4.75 kills and 0.88 digs per set, to move into a tie for second place in the WAC standings. Sawyer opened the week with 15 kills on 18 attempts with just two errors for a .722 hitting percentage, breaking the program Division I record for hitting percentage in a three-set match. She followed it up with a match-high 23 kills to go along with five digs, a block and an assist in a come-from-behind five-set win at Missouri-Kansas City, handing the ‘Roos just their second home loss of the season. The 23 kills is tied for the third-highest in a match in the WAC this season.
