DENVER - Seattle U senior middle blocker Martina Samadan has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4. This is her second WAC Player of the Week honor of the season and the third of her career.

The Split, Croatia, native led the Redhawks to a 1-1 record last week, averaging 3.43 kills on a blazing .636 hitting, 1.29 blocks, 0.71 digs and 0.29 service aces per set. She opened the week by leading the Redhawks to their fifth-straight win with a sweep of Grand Canyon, finishing with 10 kills on .571 hitting, four blocks and two digs. In the final two sets, Samadan had eight kills in 10 attempts. On Saturday, she kept Seattle U in the match against CSU Bakersfield, leading the Redhawks with 14 kills in 19 attempts with just one attack error for a .684 hitting percentage, the fourth-highest single-match percentage in Seattle U history. She also had five blocks, three digs and two service aces and against the Roadrunners. During the second and third sets combined, Samadan was 9-for-10 in attack attempts without an error. She now owns five of the top 10 single-match hitting percentages in Redhawk history.

Elli Woinowsky of Chicago State averaged 3.17 kills, 1.33 digs and 0.67 service aces ... Missouri-Kansas City's Madison Mosier averaged 3.00 kills on .404 hitting, 1.25 digs and 0.38 blocks per set ... Sasha-Lee Thomas of NM State averaged 2.63 kills on .561 hitting and 1.00 blocks per set as the Aggies went 3-0 on the week ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Bojana Mitrovic averaged 5.86 kills and 4.29 digs per set as the Vaqueros went 1-1 on the week ... Lauren Bakker of Utah Valley averaged 3.38 kills on .429 hitting, 1.25 blocks and 1.00 digs per set in a pair of wins last week.
