DENVER - North Dakota's Jacob Wielinski and Grand Canyon's Iryna Glavnyk have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Week, respectively, for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.

Wielinski, a freshman from Moundsview, Minn., went 4:35.03 to win his first collegiate race, the 500 freestyle. He then went on to win the 200 IM (1:54.11), the 400 IM (4:05.94) and the mile (16:06.06) as North Dakota defeated St. Cloud State, 218-159.

Glavnyk, a junior from Kiev, Ukraine earned a pair of second-place finishes in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational, facing off against some strong opponents from teams in last year's top 40. She posted a time of 1:59.81 in the 200-yard back, before picking up another runner-up finish in the 100 yard back (55.61). She earned times faster than she opened the season with last year.

Other men's nominees: Grand Canyon's Daniil Antipov had a strong opening meet to start his collegiate career, earning a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.54 and following up with a second-place finish in the 200-yard free (1:39.65). He was also a member of the team that won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:29.51.

Other women's nominees: North Dakota's Steph Frey was part of seven first-place finishes as UND defeated St. Cloud State and MSU Moorhead in a two-day championship format meet. She won three individual titles and was part of four winning relays.
