WAC Swimmers & Divers of the Week
Air Force Academy's Jordan Dahle and Nathanael Zillweger have been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Nov. 2-Nov. 8. This is both Dahle's and Zillweger's second honor of the season.
Dahle, a junior from Salt Lake City (Cottonwood HS) won three events over two dual meets … Posted season best times in all three events … He won both the 50 free and 100 free against Grand Canyon and the 200 free against Arizona State … The points he earned helped lead Air Force to dual meet victories over Grand Canyon and Arizona State and keep the Falcons undefeated on the season at 8-0.
Zillweger, a senior from Phoenix (Willow Canyon) won the 1-meter diving against Grand Canyon with season high 340.28 points … Won the 1-meter diving against Arizona State (302.80) and was second on 3-meter (328.75 … defeated two of Arizona State's top divers, including one who qualified for the NCAA Championships last season and another who is a member of the Finland National Team.
University of Idaho's Maryann Kok has been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the week, respectively, for Nov. 2-Nov. 8.
Kok, a freshman from Selangor, Shah, Alam, Malaysia (Sunway University College) placed first in the 50 free race with a time of 24.09 and won the 100 free with a time of 53.34. Kok was also a member of both of the winning relay teams in Idaho's win over Seattle U.
AIR FORCE
Air Force posted wins over Grand Canyon (129-114) and Arizona State (158-142)…Junior Jordan Dahle won three events in the two duals, the 50, 100 and 200 free … Senior Michael Barnosky won the 100 breast stroke (54.71) and 200 breast stroke (1:52.42).at Arizona State … He also won the 100 breast stroke (54.22)… Senior Nathanael Zillweger won the 1-meter diving against Grand Canyon with season high 340.28 points … Won the 1-meter diving against Arizona State (302.80) and was second on 3-meter (328.75) … The Falcons compete in a dual meet against long-time rival Wyoming, Nov. 12, in Laramie, Wyo.
SEATTLE U
Seattle University won five individual events in its dual meet Saturday against Idaho, but saw its dual meet record fall to 5-2 as the Vandals won the meet, 160-102. After swimming the second leg of the Seattle U 200 medley relay that finished second in 1:49.28, Blaise Wittenauer-Lee came from behind and out-touched Cara Jernigan of Idaho in the 100 breaststroke to win that event by 5/100ths of a second with a time of 1:05.04. Annika Perry finished third in the race with a mark of 1:08.42. In the 200 breaststroke, Wittenauer-Lee defeated Jernigan by two seconds with a time of 2:19.97. She finished off the day with a 4.2-second victory in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:08.30, followed by Perry in second place in 2:12.51. The other two Seattle U victories came in the butterfly events, starting with a 1-2 finish in the 200 butterfly, as Kaitlyn Overstreet rallied to touch the wall first in 2:08.61, just ahead of Jane Liggett in second place in 2:08.83. Liggett would emerge victorious in a close 100 butterfly, finishing in 58.51 seconds, just over 2/10ths of a second ahead of two Idaho swimmers.
WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2015 WAC Swimming and Diving Championship travels to Houston, Texas. The UNLV men's swim team captured the WAC title while the Northern Arizona women's team took the crown at the WAC championships last year.
