DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference has announced the 2015 women's soccer postseason award winners as selected by the league's eight head coaches. WAC regular season champion Seattle U led all teams with seven players selected to the All-WAC team, with four on the first team and three on the second team.
Seattle U senior forward Julia Moravec was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while Utah Valley senior goalkeeper Jessica Duffin was named Defensive Player of the Year. CSU Bakersfield forward Aminah Settles was named Freshman of the Year and Utah Valley head coach Brent Anderson was named the Coach of the Year.
Moravec, from Spokane, Wash. (Lewis and Clark HS), led the WAC in points during conference play, scoring seven goals and adding six assists, for a total of 20 points. Overall, Moravec scored 29 points on the year and her 11 assists are seventh-best in the nation.
Duffin, from Smithfield, Utah (Sky View HS), made 22 saves and allowed only eight goals in 10 matches during WAC play to lead the Wolverines to a second-place finish. She is the Wolverines all-time leader with 15 career shutouts, recording six this season.
Settles, from Tucson, Ariz. (Catalina Foothills HS), led the WAC in goals scored in conference play with eight to power the ‘Runners. On the season, Settles scored 10 goals on only 23 shots on goal and added one assist, good for 21 points.
Anderson led the Wolverines to a 7-2-1 record in the WAC and second-place finish this season. In his tenth season with the Wolverines, Anderson has a 98-92-11 overall record.
