DENVER - Northern Arizona's Kendall Brown and CSU Bakersfield's Carlee Burks have been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Dec. 14-20.

Brown, a senior from Aliso Viejo, Calif. (Laguna Hills) enjoyed her best finish of Saturday's four-team FAU Fun Invite with a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle finishing with a time of 5:03.99. The only swimmer that bested her was Northwestern's Lauren Abruzzo and she finished ahead of two other Northwestern swimmers from the Big Ten. She also swam the butterfly leg of NAU's 400 medley relay team that finished third with a time of 4:15.61.

Burks, a junior from Bakersfield, Calif. (Centennial HS) dominated the competition on Saturday by earning victories on both boards. The native of Bakersfield reset her personal best on the 1-meter board to open the competition. Burks scored 285.15 points and jumped from fifth all-time for the ‘Runners in the event to third. She then went on to post a mark of 275.95 on the 3-meter, defeating the runner up by almost 30 points. Burks' 1-meter score is good enough to rank her second in the WAC this season while she remains fourth in the 3-meter event.
