DENVER – Seattle U’s Sophie Curatilo and Grand Canyon’s Jenny Rolph have been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for February 9-15.

Curatilo, a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii (Moanalua HS), continues to perform at a high level in her senior year, breaking a school record for the second time this indoor season with a new school standard in the one mile run. Curatilo won her section of the event at the Husky Classic with a time of 4:51.13, four-and-a-half seconds quicker than the previous mark set six years ago. She now has the top time in the mile on the WAC performance list by over a full second.

Rolph, a sophomore from Peoria, Ariz. (Liberty HS), won the pole vault competition over the weekend in Flagstaff at the NAU Invitational.  Rolph cleared the bar at a conference-best height of 3.80 meters.

Other Track  Nominees: Diana Hawk, New Mexico State; Robin Galloso, Texas-Pan American.

Other Field Nominees: Mariah Gibbs, Seattle U.
