Platret Finishes Tied for First at Bronc Intercollegiate 2/17/2015 12:00:00 AM Platret Finishes Tied for First at Bronc Intercollegiate EDINBURG, Texas – (UTPA Media Relations) Freshman Nicolas Platretfinished in a tie for first place with a three-round score of 225 to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's golf team at the Bronc Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Los Lagos Golf Club. Platret went into the final round up a stroke on Abilene Christian's Corbin Renner. Platret turned in a final round score of 77 while Renner posted a 76. Both players went to a playoff on hole No. 1 and both birdied the par five. On hole No. 2, it was Renner who two-putted for par while Platret missed his par putt slightly to the right to give Renner the championship. Sophomore Gareth Saxon, who was playing as an individual, finished in third place after posting a final round 75 for a three-round score of 227 (76,76,75). Senior Chris Felix, also playing as an individual, finished in a tie for sixth after shooting a final round 76 as he posted a three-round score of 231 (75,80,76). Junior Ramon Ventura-Camp finished in 13th place with a three-round score of 239 (77,84,78) after shooting a final round 78. Junior and Sharyland alum finished tied for 14th after shooting a final round 80 for a three-round score of 240 (75,85,80). Junior and McAllen High alum Ricky Solis finished in a tie for 20th after shooting a final round 84 for a three-round score of 246 (77,85,84) and freshman Mariano Romero finished in 26th with a three-round score of 254 (86,82,86) after shooting a final round 86. As a team, the Broncs finished in fourth place with a three-round score of 947 (302,326,319) after shooting a final round 319. Abilene Christian won the team championship with a three-round score of 919. The Broncs are back in action on February 23 when they travel to Louisiana for the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate, hosted by Nicholls State University.
