DENVER – Texas-Pan American’s Koby Jansen and Grand Canyon’s Tatum Prudhomme have been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s and women’s Tennis Athletes of the Week, respectively, for February 16-22.
Jansen, a freshman from Queensland, Australia (Sunshine Coast Grammar School), recorded the lone point for the Broncs against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 victory over Ricardo Mayagoitia in the No. 3 singles position. It was Jansen’s second straight singles victory as he now posts a 4-2 dual match singles record and a 10-5 overall record.
Prudhomme, a sophomore from Glendale, Ariz. (Connections Academy), earned victories in both singles matches to give her a three game winning streak. She faced Erin Blessing from Eastern Washington where she won in straight sets. Against Gonzaga, she had a three-set match against Samantha Polayes, winning 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. In doubles, she teamed up with senior Priscilla Annoual, falling short against Eastern Washington 6-4, but defeating Gonzaga 6-4 to help the team earn the doubles point.
