DENVER – Seattle U’s Patrick Sato has been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for Jan. 26-Feb. 1.
Sato, a sophomore from Bellevue, Wash. (Interlake HS), was the Redhawks’ leading golfer at the Arizona Intercollegiate Jan. 26-27 in Tucson, Ariz. He started slowly before earning three birdies and an eagle to finish the first round at even-par 71. He posted a second-round score of 74 (+3) to finish day one in a tie for 23rd place. He moved up 10 spots into a tie for 13th place after shooting three-under-par 68 in the third and final round, earning six birdies against just three bogeys during the day. The final round 68 was his best round of the year as he lowered his season stroke average to 73.38, second-best on the squad.
