Frerichs Takes Fifth at NCAA Indoor Championships

DENVER - Missouri-Kansas City's senior Courtney Frerichs finished in fifth place overall in the women's 5000 meter run to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.

Frerichs ran a personal best time of 15:47.56 setting a new WAC record in the process.  She finished just 24 one-hundredths of a second from the third place finisher Sarah Disanza of Wisconsin.

Michael McPherson, Utah Valley University's first athlete to ever compete in the Indoor NCAA's, sits in 14th place after the first day's events in the heptathlon on Friday. 

In the 60m dash, McPherson ran the event in 7.07 seconds and finished in eighth place overall. Finishing in 10th place, he jumped 6.76m (22'2.25") in the long jump, good enough for 757 points. McPherson threw the shot put 10.11m (33'2") for 14th place and 492 points. He also finished in 14th in the high jump with a mark of 1.89m (6'2.25"). 

McPherson will continue the heptathlon on Saturday beginning with the 60m hurdles.
