Grand Canyon has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2015 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament and will host a first round game on Wednesday, March 18, against Northern Arizona. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at GCU Arena.
This marks the second time in as many years that the Lopes will play in the CIT, as they fell to Pacific in the first round last season.
The game will be broadcast live in Phoenix on Cox7 and streamed online at
www.collegeinsider.com.
The Lopes finished their second season in Division I with a 17-14 regular season record and an 8-6 mark in the WAC. NAU went 19-14 this season and advanced to the Big Sky Tournament semifinals. The two squads last met on Dec. 14, 2013 in Flagstaff, with the Lumberjacks prevailing 63-61.
The CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament is a single-elimination tournament, consisting of five rounds, all games played on on-campus sites, which will be determined by seeding.
This is the seventh edition of the CIT. The 2009 and 2010 tournaments were contested by 16 teams. The 2011 CIT consisted of 24 teams. The field expanded to 32 in 2012.
CBS Sports Network will broadcast the Semifinal Round on Tuesday, March 31 and Championship Game of the CIT on Thursday, April 2.
