DENVER – Grand Canyon’s Alex Kline and Charloette Jaengkit have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for Mar. 9 – Mar. 15.
Kline, a junior from Ramsey, Minn., averaged 73.8 over six rounds this week with one round under par and three rounds at even par. He finished tied for 10th at the Sacramento State Invitational with a three-over 219 before tying for 22nd at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, firing an eight-over 224.
Jaengkit, a senior from Bangkok, Thailand, won her fifth tournament of the season and third of the spring, shooting a one-over 145 to win the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invite in St. George, Utah by three strokes. Her season average of 72.67 is the best in the WAC by 1.40 strokes.
Other men nominated: Seattle U freshman Joe Harvie tied for 10th at the Sacramento State Invitational, shooting a three-over 219…Texas-Pan American freshman Nicolas Platret shot a nine-over 225 to tie for 35th at the Sacramento State Invitational…Utah Valley senior Michael Dart finished tied for 13th at the Bandon Dunes Championship, firing an even-par 144 over two rounds.
Other women nominated: Utah Valley junior Cassandra Lesa tied for second at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invite with a four-over 148.
