DENVER – Texas-Pan American’s Robin Galloso and teammate Cristina Santiago Bravo have been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 9-15.
Galloso, a graduate student from Edinburg, Texas (Edinburg HS), won both the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run at the Islanders Open last week. She posted a time of 2:19.78 in the 800-meter run while beating out 16 other runners. She then beat out 13 Division I runners in the 1,500-meter run after posting a time of 4:48.41.
Santiago Bravo, a junior from Alcorcon, Madrid, Spain (IES Galileo Galilei), won the women’s hammer throw at the Islanders Open last week after a collegiate career-best throw of 54.43 meters. Her throw ranks third in program history. She defeated 10 other throwers to earn the top spot in the event.
