DENVER – Utah Valley’s Brayden Eriksen and Grand Canyon’s Charloette Jaengkit have been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for Feb. 23 – Mar. 1.
Eriksen, a senior from Qualicum Beach, B.C., Canada (Kwalikum HS), tied for second place at The Loyola Golf Invite (sponsored by the Neville Kovacs Group). Two of three round came under par as Eriksen carded a four-under 212 on the tournament to tie with Obe Ayton of St. John’s for second place among the 100-golfer field. The Wolverines won the tournament by six-strokes over second-place Utah.
Jaengkit, a senior from Bangkok, Thailand (Antelope Valley Christian), won a pair of tournaments on the week, finishing first at the Grand Canyon Invitational with a one-over 271 before tying for medalist honors at the Red Rocks Invitational with an even-par 144. The Lopes finished second and third in the tournaments respectively.
Other men nominated: Missouri-Kansas City senior Mitch Tucker shot a two-under 213 at The Loyola Golf Invite to lead the Kangaroos to a fifth-place finish…Texas-Pan American freshman Nicolas Platret took fourth place at the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate, carding a seven-over 223 as the Broncs took fifth out of eight teams
Other women nominated: New Mexico State junior Kacey Dalpes tied for third at the Red Rocks Invitational, carding a two-over 146…Utah Valley senior Hannah Herman led the Wolverines at the Red Rocks Invitational, finishing in a tie for 15th place with a seven-over 151…Seattle U sophomore Ellen Brantberg shot a seven-over 151 to lead the Redhawks at the Red Rocks Invitational…Missouri-Kansas City senior Susan Kirschenman was 13-over to lead the Kangaroos as the GCU Invitational…Texas-Pan American senior Marisa Canales led the Broncs with a two-round scored of 164 at the Islanders Open.
