ATLANTA — (CSUB Media Relations) For the second consecutive season, CSU Bakersfield’s Tyonna Outland has been named Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Region. Outland is one of five players named to WBCA All-Region VII and will now be one of 52 eligible for the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team.
Outland is the all-time leading scorer at CSU Bakersfield (2,078) and holds five other school career records. She also ends her career with six school Division I single season records. Outland is a two-time All-Conference selection and earned College Sports Madness All-American honors on two occasions.
The WBCA selection committee uses an equation to determine a fair number of nominees from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to determine a percentage for each region. This percentage is then multiplied by 52 (the total number of desired finalists) to get the number of finalists for each region.
The 2015 WBCA Division I Coaches’ All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. ET Saturday April 4, during NCAA® Women’s Final Four® Super Saturday festivities in Amalie Arena.
