WAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER - Grand Canyon's Tope Williams and Texas-Pan American's Cristina Santiago Bravo have been named the Western Athletic Conference women's track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 6-12.

Williams, a freshman from Chandler, Ariz. (Chandler HS), raced to the second-fastest collegiate time in the 100-meter dash at the Mesa Classic, clocking a time of 11.95 seconds. The freshman was the third collegiate finisher in the 200-meter dash with her time of 24.72 seconds. In addition, Williams was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that took first with their WAC-best time of 46.12 seconds.

Bravo, a junior from Alcorcon, Madrid, Spain (IES Galileo Galilei), won the women's hammer throw at the Islander Dash after setting a new career-high with a throw of 56.01 meters, which ranks first in the WAC this season. Her mark was more than five meters longer than the second place finisher. Bravo also went on to win the javelin throw with a mark of 36.37 meters, which was more than five meters longer than the second place finisher.
