WAC Baseball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week Announced

DENVER - New Mexico State's Quinnton Mack and Bakersfield's James Barragan have been named Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for Apr. 13 - Apr. 19.

Mack, a senior outfielder from Las Vegas (Las Vegas HS), hit .600 on the week, going 9-for-15 in games against Washington State and Grand Canyon. Mack was crucial in New Mexico State's series win over Grand Canyon, going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs in Friday's win before wrapping up the series with a 4-for-5 day in Sunday's series-clinching victory. He totaled five RBIs on the week, including a home run on Monday at Washington State.

Barragan, a senior right-hander from Bakersfield, Calif. (Stockdale HS), pitched a gem on Saturday at Sacramento State, allowing just one hit in a complete game shutout win. He struck out 10 batters and walked four as the Roadrunners earned a series-clinching win over the defending WAC champion Hornets. It was his second complete game in his last three starts as he earned his first career shutout.

Other Hitter of the Week nominees: Bakersfield's David Metzgar hit .500 as the Roadrunners took the series in Sacramento...Northern Colorado's Jensen Park hit .588 as the Bears earned a series sweep over Utah Valley…Sacramento State's Nathan Lukes was 6-for-15 on the week, including a home run against Pacific…North Dakota's Tyler Follis hit .400 on the week as UND went 2-2, including a series win at Seattle U…Texas-Pan American's Cole Loncar was 7-for-13, including the walk-off two-run home run in Friday's win, as the Broncs split a WAC series with Chicago State...Grand Canyon's Paul Panaccione hit .500 over five games, including three extra-base hits.

Other Pitcher of the Week nominees: Sacramento State's Brennan Leitao went the distance in a 1-0 loss to Bakersfield, striking out seven and allowing just five hits…North Dakota's Alex Twenge pitched all nine innings to earn the complete game win over Seattle U…Seattle U's Will Dennis struck out six over 7.1 innings in a 4-2 win over North Dakota...New Mexico State's Billy Conrad threw all seven innings in Friday's shortened 12-2 win over Grand Canyon, striking out five Lopes hitters in the victory.
