DENVER -Missouri-Kansas City's Courtney Frerichs and New Mexico State's Kayli Farmer have been named the Western Athletic Conference women's track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 13-19.
Frerichs, a senior from Nixa, Mo. (Nixa HS), grabbed eighth place in the women's 1500-meter run recording a time of 4:22.59 at the Bryan Clay Invitational this weekend. Her time broke the UMKC school record by 14 seconds and leads the WAC by 6 seconds. Frerichs is currently ranked 33rd in the NCAA west region.
Farmer, a freshman from Aztec, N.M. (Aztec HS), won the javelin throw with a toss of 42.36 meters (139-0). Farmer placed second against the competition marking 1.57 meters. She is currently ranked second in the conference in the event so far this season.
