DENVER - Missouri-Kansas City's Terrone Garner and teammate Blake Hocking have been named the Western Athletic Conference men's track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 20-26.
Garner, a junior from St. Louis, Mo. (Cardinal Ritter Prep), placed second in the 400 meter hurdles at the ASU Red Wolf Open this weekend in Arkansas. His time of 53.56 seconds currently ranks second in the WAC. Garner also helped the Roo's in the men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that set season best marks.
Hocking, a junior from Lawrence, Kan. (Lawrence HS), took third place overall in the men's shot put this weekend with his toss of 18.17 meters- a career best, new school record and ranks first in the conference by well over 2 meters. He is currently ranked 24th in the NCAA West region in the event. Hocking also threw 47.53 meters in the discus which ranks second in the WAC this season.
