LUBBOCK, Texas - (UTPA Media Relations) University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's golf freshman Nicolas Platret finished tied for 14th after shooting a 74 in the final round of the NCAA Lubbock Regional on Saturday at The Rawls Course.
Platret posted a three-round score of 212 (66,72,74) as he finished seven strokes behind Houston's Blair Hamilton and Texas Tech's Clement Sordet, who finished with a three-round score of 205.
Platret, who started off of the 10th hole, rattled off three birdies through his first four holes and at one point in his round he held a share of the overall lead. His only blemish on the back nine was a triple bogey on the par three 16th. After a birdie and a par on the 17th and 18th holes, Platret made the turn with a one-under 35.
On his front nine, Platret recorded six pars while posting bogies on the second and sixth holes and a double bogey on the seventh to post a front nine 39.
Platret finished four strokes behind California's K.K. Limbhasut and Louisville's Robin Sciot-Siegrist, who tied for the individual spot to the NCAA Tournament since Hamilton and Sordet were both on a team that finished in the top five. Limbhasut and Sciot-Siegrist each finished with a three-round score of 208 but it was Sciot-Siegrist who qualified for the NCAA Tournament after defeating Limbhasut on the first playoff hole.
