DENVER - New Mexico State's Haley Nakamura and Karysta Donisthorpe have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for April 27-May 3. This is the first-ever honor for Nakamura and the fourth honor of the season and fifth of her career for Donisthorpe.

Nakamura, a sophomore shortstop from Lahaina, Hawai'i, went 5-of-7 at the plate in a doubleheader sweep of UTEP last week. She posted a .714 batting average, a .714 slugging percentage and .750 on-base percentage with three runs scored. In the first game of the doubleheader, Nakamura was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. In the nightcap, she was 2-for-3 with one run scored.

Donisthorpe, a redshirt junior from Farmington, N.M., went 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA in a complete-game win over UTEP last week. She was perfect through the first three innings before giving up UTEP's first hit in the bottom of the fourth inning. Donisthorpe, who held the Miners to a .192 batting average on the game, allowed one run on five hits while striking out eight and issuing just one walk. With the win, Donisthorpe improved to 20-4 on the season, tied for the fifth-most wins in a season in program history.
