UTRGV's Platret Earns Silver Medalist Honors at World University Games

NAJU, South Korea - Less than three months after climbing the leaderboard on the final day to win medalist honors at the 2015 Western Athletic Conference Golf Championship, UTRGV golfer Nicolas Platret has added another pair of medals to his mantle, earning silver medalist honors at the 2015 World University Games in South Korea.

Platret opened with a first round 71, which put him in a tie for eighth place. He followed that with a second round 67 as he stood in a tie for first place after round two.

After a third round 69, Platret closed out the tournament with a final round 67 as he finished just one stroke behind the gold medal winner, Kazuki Higa from Japan.

Platret also helped France's team to a silver medal finish in the team competition after they finished with a four-round team score of 557. Each team consisted of three players with their scores added up in each round to come up with final totals.

There were 20 teams competing and 60 individuals.

Platret has put in the work all summer long as he continues to prepare for the fall season. He has competed at several tournaments throughout the summer such as the St. Andrews Links Trophy Tournament and the 120th Amateur Championship in Scotland.
