KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two WAC men's basketball teams - Missouri-Kansas City and Utah Valley - were among two of just 21 Division I programs honored today by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) with the third annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics.
The awards, earned by more than 175 colleges and universities, recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2014-15 season.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA Divisions I and II, must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2014-15 season.
