DENVER- Grand Canyon's Samuel Proctor and Kelsi Klotter have been named Western Athletic Conference Runners of the Week, respectively, for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6.
Proctor posted his highest finish as an Antelope, beating his personal record by two minutes to finish seventh out of 104 competitors. The redshirt-sophomore led the Lopes to their fastest finish in the George Kyte Classic, finishing less than a minute behind third place Arizona State.
Klotter finished 10th place in the Northern Arizona George Kyte Classic with a time of 15:46.2, for her fastest finish in the race. GCU has competed in the competition all four years she has been on the squad.
Other nominees included: Tyson Lambert out of Utah Valley, Bryce Miller from Missouri-Kansas City and Gus Arroyo from Seattle U. On the women's side, nominees include Bakersfield's Angel Valdez, UMKC's Sarah Fogarty and Seattle U's Lila Rice.
