Air Force
Air Force placed second at the Orange Bowl Classic, Jan. 3, in Key Largo, Fla. Michigan won the tournament with 231 points. Air Force was second with 187 points. Michael Barnosky won both the 50 meter and 100 meter breast stroke. He set a new meet record in the 50 meter. He also swam a leg of the 200 meter medley relay team that won with a of 1:40.02.

CSU Bakersfield
The Roadrunners fell in both of their duals this week. CSU Bakersfield dropped a close meet against San José State on New Year's Eve, 155.5-133.5, before falling to Fresno State to open 2016, 178-122. Michaela Paige shined as she continues a strong winter, winning three individual events and helping the CSUB 400 free relay team to a win as well. Against Fresno State, the freshman trio of Sabrina Zavala, Darya Samiee, and Michaela Salinas finished first, second, and fourth, respectively, in the 1000 free. Junior diver Carlee Burks, who qualified for the NCAA Zone E meet two weeks ago, continued to dive well and earned two victories this week.

Grand Canyon
Mark Nikolaev set three pool records and Grand Canyon earned nine total event victories as the GCU men's swimming and diving team jumped back into dual-meet action Saturday. Hosted by UC San Diego at Canyonview Pool, the meet included strong GCU finishes that helped the Lopes defeat UNLV 180-118 and topple UC San Diego, which ranks No. 5 nationally in Division II, by a 161-137 score. On the women's side, the Lopes had a tough time as they lost all four dual matchups. GCU fell to UNLV 184-114; to host UC San Diego -- the No. 2 team in Division II -- by a 160-138 mark; to San Deigo State 188-105; and to Boise State 202-97.

WAC SWIMMER AND DIVER OF THE WEEK ANNOUNCED
Grand Canyon's Mark Nikolaev and Mike Bidak have been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Dec 28-Jan 3.

Nikolaev, a freshman from Seltso, Russia (Seltsovkaya) 200 IM time had a CollegeSwimmimg.com performance score of 782.0 - the top score in the WAC this week for the men. It is an NCAA B Cut and is the 2nd fastest in the WAC this season. It was also a UC San Diego pool record. The freshman also set another UCSD pool record in the 100 back with a time of 49.14 and was part of the 1st place 200-medley relay, which set another UCSD pool record.

Bidak, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon) won both the 1-meter and 3-meter with scores of 318.80 and 338.00. Bidak's wins were crucial to beating UCSD. Had he not done so, Grand Canyon would not have beat them. His 3-meter score was also a team record.

Grand Canyon's Iryna Glavnyk and Menna Elmidany have been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Dec. 28-Jan 3.

Glavnyk, a junior from Kiev, Ukraine (All-Republic Higher Specialized School in Physical Education) competed against No. 39 Boise State and No. 42 San Diego State as well as UNLV and UC San Diego where she placed second in the 100 and 200 backstroke events and 7th in the 200 IM.

Elmidany, a freshman from Alexandria, Egypt (Nermian Ismail Preparatory School) placed 2nd on the 1M with a score of 252.40 and 5th on the 3M with a score of 244.55. Both of Elmidany's scores were team records.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2015 WAC Swimming and Diving Championship travels to Houston, Texas. The UNLV men's swim team captured the WAC title while the Northern Arizona women's team took the crown at the WAC championships last year.
