WAC Men's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER - CSU Bakersfield's Jake Chir and North Dakota's Mitch Raihle have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Oct. 24-30.

Chir, a sophomore from Henderson, Nevada, was the only ‘Runner to win an individual event in CSUB's dual meet against No. 12 ranked team in the nation, USC. His first place 100 breast time of 57.91 beat an NCAA qualifier from 2015. Chir also swam the 200 breast and finished second only behind defending PAC 12 Champion, Steven Stumph. His 200 breast time ranks third in the WAC at 2:05.70. Chir also holds the fourth place ranking in the WAC for the 100 breast.

Raihle, a freshman from Spring Lake Park, Minn., won both events at North Dakota's dual meet against Missouri State. He placed first in the 1-meter with a score of 266.60, and in the 3-meter with a score of 305.40.

Other swimmer nominees: North Dakota's Tyler Zelen placed first in the 50 free in a meet against Missouri State… Air Force's Jordan Dahle finished second in both of his individual events and swam legs of two first place relays against Colorado Mines.
