DENVER - In recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week (Oct. 2-8), the WAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) has released its public service announcement on mental health.
"Statistics show that the demographic of college students in general has been experiencing increasing numbers of mental health problems," said Kim Nyhus, the WAC Division I SAAC Representative. "Student-athletes fall into that demographic and it is essential we make mental health awareness a priority. Reducing the stigma around mental health problems and making sure student-athletes are looking out for their teammates will enable students to feel comfortable to get help. It's okay to not be okay!"
