OREM, Utah - Two goals was enough to give the Air Force Falcons a WAC men's soccer tournament opening win over the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners on Thursday afternoon at Clyde Field in Orem, Utah.
John Sims opened up the scoring in the 31st minute, taking a cross in the middle of the box before scoring from just outside the six-yard box. The Falcons made it 2-0 just over 10 minutes into the second half as Austin Dewing went top shelf for his ninth goal of the season and that would be all Air Force would need.
The Falcons held a 12-8 advantage in shots. CSUB keeper Nicolas Clever made two saves while Air Force keeper John Wendt made two stops.
Air Force advances to take on second-seed Seattle U in the semifinal round, beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday at Clyde Field.
