OREM, Utah - John Wendt made seven saves and the Falcons took advantage of their opportunities at the other end of the field as Air Force upset second-seed Seattle U, 3-1, in the semifinal round of the 2016 WAC Men's Soccer Tournament on Friday afternoon at Clyde Field in Orem, Utah
The Redhawks opened up the scoring in the 16th minute as Jeff Rose fed a corner kick into the box and Kyle Bjornethun got a head on the ball for his first goal of the season and 1-0 SU lead. Â The Falcons evened it up just before half as Tucker Axhoj used his left foot to boot the ball into the upper left off a touch pass from Cameron Duley.
Air Force took the lead in the 49th minute as Duley threw a long ball into the box and the ball eventually found the foot of Jaric Marton, who put it in for his first goal of the year. Â The Falcons extended the lead in the 66th minute as Duley got the ball to Tucker Bone at midfield and Bone dribbled down to beat the keeper one on one.
The Falcons advance to Sunday's Championship match against the winner of the other semifinal between UNLV and top-seed Utah Valley.
