DENVER - An exciting postseason ride came to a close for the UNLV Rebels on Sunday night, falling to sixth-seed Denver, 3-0, in the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.
After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers got on the board in the 56th minute as Kasten Hanlin fed in a ball to Scott Devoss, who snuck the ball past UNLV keeper Enrique Adame. Denver added goals in the 70th and 81st minute as the Rebels were held to just three second half shots and five shots overall in the loss.
Adame finished with eight saves against a talented DU offense. Danny Musovski and Marquis Pitt were both able to put a shot on net but it wasn't enough to see the Rebels postseason run continue.
The Rebels end their season with a record of 10-12-2. Denver stays undefeated at 18-0-3 and will play host to 11th-seed Washington next weeked in Denver.
