DENVER - Grand Canyon's Jade Howard has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, respectively, for Dec. 5-11.
Howard, a junior from Lusaka, Zambia represented her home country at the FINA World Swimming Championships. She competed in the 50 free, 100 free, 50 back, and 100 back, setting Zambian national records in all four events. Her 50 free (23.69) and 100 free (52.09) times rank second and third in the Zambian Swimming Federation's top swims at the meet.
Other swimmer nominees: CSUB's Paola Hernandez placed first in all three of her individual events and the free relay in a dual meet against Fresno State.
