MEN'S FALL WRAP-UP
With the first half of the 2016-17 season now behind us, it looks to be a competitive spring with a number of teams posting very similar averages. Seattle U is the early leader on the team leaderboard as the Redhawks averaged 288.9 strokes per round in the fall. Grand Canyon is second at 290.0 while Utah Valley, UT Rio Grande Valley and UMC are all within 0.2 strokes of each other in third through fifth. Seattle U duo Ross Kukula and Kyle Cornett lead the individual leaderboard with stroke averages of 71.27 and 71.75 respectively. NM State's Jack Snyder is ranked third at 71.83 followed by Utah Valley's Blair Bursey (71.86) and Grand Canyon's Vinnie Murphy (72.27).
WOMEN'S FALL WRAP-UP
With the fall portion of the 2016-17 women's golf season concluded, NM State looks to be in the drivers seat to a third-straight WAC women's golf title. The Aggies are averaging 295.2 strokes per round, over five strokes better than second-place Seattle U. Individually, frehsman Suthavee “Pun†Chanachai holds the early stroke average lead at 72.75 per round. 2016 WAC individual champion Kennedie Montoya is second with a 73.82 stroke average, just one-hundredth stroke better than Seattle U's Linetta Chua. NM State's Kristen Cline is averaging 74.27 strokes per round and UMKC's Cynthia Diaz is averaging 74.50 strokes to round out the top five.
The 2017 WAC Championships will split up this season with the women headed to Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kan. on April 19-21 and the men headed to Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. on April 28-30.
