DENVER - Grand Canyon's Dana Jones has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 25 through Jan. 31.

Jones, a senior forward from Gulfport, Miss. (Gulfport HS), led the Antelopes to their first weekend road sweep of the season, averaging 19.0 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game. Her best contest came in the win at Seattle U, scoring 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. She also scored 13 points with seven rebounds in a win at CSU Bakersfield on Thursday.

Other nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Batabe Zempare averaged 14.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg as the ‘Runners split a pair of WAC games at home … Chicago State's Sh'Toya Sanders secured the double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Cougars held off UMKC in double-overtime … Missouri-Kansas City's Kiana Law scored 17 points and gathered eight rebounds as the ‘Roos lost a double-overtime thriller at Chicago State … NM State's Sasha Weber scored 18 points and brought down five rebounds as the Aggies completed a perfect first half of WAC play with a win at UTRGV … UT Rio Grande Valley's Rickell Preston scored 17 points as the Vaqueros fell to NM State on Saturday … Utah Valley's Rebecca MaWhinney helped the Wolverines earn a win at Seattle U, scoring 20 points with seven rebounds in the 61-44 victory.
