WAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
UT Rio Grande Valley's Juan Cruz Soria and Grand Canyon's Tatum Prudhomme have been named Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 1-7

Soria, a junior from San Juan, Argentina (Escuela Modelo de San Juan) went undefeated on the weekend after going 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles. He improved to a team-leading 5-2 in singles on the season, while playing all of his matches at the No. 1 spot. Soria defeated No. 3 Texas A&M's Aleksandre Bakshi 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 in the first of two singles matches on Friday. He then closed out his day with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Praire View A&M's Christian Waldron. Soria returned home on Sunday to defeat Lamar's Michael Feucht 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot as he recorded the lone point for the Vaqueros against the Cardinals. In doubles, he teamed with Yehonatan Kaufman for the first time this season as they defeated Prairie View A&M's Christian Waldron and Sergio Avella 7-5 and then they beat Lamar's Jeandre Hoogenboezem and Nikita Lis 6-3 on Sunday.

Prudhomme, a junior from Glendale, Ariz. (Connections Academy) went undefeated on the weekend after going 1-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles against Western New Mexico. She is currently 4-2 in singles this year at No. 1 and 6-0 in doubles this year at No. 1.

CHICAGO STATE
The Chicago State men's tennis team began its weekend slate here Friday evening as it fell to host Northern Illinois by a score of 5-2 at the Boylan Tennis Center. The team ended its weekend slate on Saturday with a pair of home matches at the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, Ill. The Cougars fell to SIU Edwardsville by a score of 5-2 before finishing out the day with a 6-0 defeat to No. 68 Purdue. The Chicago State women's tennis team welcomed SIU Edwardsville and Illinois State to the H-F Racquet and Fitness Club in Homewood, Ill. to continue its season-opening, seven-match homestand last weekend. The Cougars fell to the SIUE Cougars by a score of 6-1 and later dropped a 7-0 decision to the Redbirds.

GRAND CANYON
The Grand Canyon men's tennis team hosted its first home match of the season and the men could have not asked for a better result sweeping Western New Mexico 7-0. GCU won all nine matches played against the Mustangs as they improve to 4-2 this season. They faced its toughest task of the tournament on Saturday as they faced Southern California. The Trojans entered the match as the No. 6 team in the country and the Lopes were able to come away with one victory against one of the nation's best. GCU fell to USC 6-1 and is now 4-3 this season. The GCU women's tennis team evened their record at 3-3 for the season with a win over Western New Mexico on Thursday, Feb. 4. The Lopes defeated the Mustangs 6-1.

MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY
The UMKC men's tennis squad jumped out to an early advantage and never looked back on Saturday afternoon in its first road dual of the season at Omaha, taking a 7-0 victory. UMKC pushed most of the singles match on Sunday at Nebraska to tiebreaks or one broken serve, but in the end fell to Nebraska for its first loss of the season in a tightly contested dual, 6-1. The UMKC women had to play without three key performers this weekend in Lincoln, Neb., and fell to some stiff competition by 7-0 margins to Nebraska and No. 71 Wyoming.

NM STATE
The NM State men's tennis team fell short on Friday against UNLV, 6-1, at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV. The NM State men's tennis team dropped another nail biter on Saturday to UC Riverside at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in a neutral site match on the campus of UNLV. Trailing 3-1, the NM State men's tennis team rallied one-by-one in singles play to defeat Weber State, 4-3, for its first win of the dual season Sunday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

SEATTLE U
Seattle University men's tennis (0-7) dropped the doubles point before Portland (2-3) earned wins in all six singles en route to a 7-0 win for the Pilots. After relinquishing the doubles point, Seattle University men's tennis (0-8) picked up a win in singles play but ultimately would drop the match, 6-1, to Idaho (2-1). Seattle University women's tennis (2-4) won the doubles match but dropped five of six singles as Idaho (2-2) earned a 5-2 victory. The team (4-4) won the doubles point and would sweep the singles match in both competitions on the day en route to a pair of 7-0 victories vs. Lewis & Clark State College (0-1) and the College of Idaho (0-1). The Redhawks then (4-6) suffered a 7-0 loss to host Washington State (7-0) in the morning match before falling to Northern Arizona (3-1), 4-1, in the second match of the day's doubleheader. After dropping the doubles point to South Dakota State (2-3), Seattle University women's tennis (5-6) responded with six straight singles wins to earn a 6-1 win in their weekend finale. The win wrapped a hectic weekend for the Redhawks in which they played six matches in four days.

UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team fell 2-5 against the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies on Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center, in the first of two matches on the day. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's tennis team closed out the day with a 6-0 sweep of the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. The team, who were playing in their third match in as many days, fell 1-6 to the Lamar University Cardinals on Sunday at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2015 WAC Tennis Championship travels to Brownsville, Texas from April 29th to May 1st. This year's championships will be hosted by Texas Rio Grand Valley. The New Mexico State men will look to repeat a WAC title. The Grand Canyon women won the regular season while New Mexico State won the tournament last season.
