DENVER - Grand Canyon redshirt sophomore
Joshua Braun has been voted to the first team Academic All-District 8 Men's Basketball Team. He now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America® consideration. That team will be announced on March 3
Braun is majoring in business management and currently carries a 3.83 grade-point average. He was named Academic All-WAC last year.
On the court, Braun is one of two players in the WAC named to the mid-season watch list for the Lou Henson Award, given annually to the top Division I Mid-Major player. He leads the WAC in free throw percentage (86.6) and three-point percentage (45.4), ranks second in scoring (17.8), fifth in three-pointers per game (2.36) and 11th in rebounding (5.7). He is a two-time WAC Player of the Week and was named to the WAC All-Newcomer Team last year.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA at his current institution. Voting is done by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Braun looks to become just the second Academic All-American® in Grand Canyon men's basketball history. The only other men's basketball player to earn the honor was Kevin Warren in 1986.
