DENVER - CSU Bakersfield's Lovre Soric and Terrell Mauldin have been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Feb.1-7.
Soric, a sophomore from Zagreb, Croatia (X. Gimnazija Ivan Supek) posted strong mid-season times against the second ranked team in the country, Cal. Soric finished third in both of his individual races behind Cal's swimmers. Soric posted a time of 1:51.00 in the 200 back before a solid 200 IM time of 1:52.67. The sophomore also helped CSUB's 200 free relay team to a first-place finish (1:25.13).
Mauldin, a senior from Murrieta, Calif. (Riverside CC) competed in his final dual meet as a Roadrunner and earned his first victory of the season on the 3-meter board. The senior posted a score of 307.57, besting his previous personal record by a massive 42 points. Mauldin's score was good enough to move him up from 14th in the WAC this season to eighth, leap frogging both of his teammates. Mauldin also performed well on the 1-meter board on Senior Day, missing another personal best by a mere four points by scoring 244.35 en route to scoring vital points for the ‘Runners who were in a dual against No. 2 Cal.
