LAS VEGAS - Second-seeded CSU Bakersfield defeated No. 7 Chicago State, 79-57, in the quarterfinal round of the WAC Tournament on Thursday. The Roadrunners advance to Friday's second semifinal game against either Seattle U.
Chicago State struggled to shoot in the second half as the Runners slowly built on a five-point halftime lead. CSUB was in control nearly the whole game, holding a lead for 35 of 40 minutes.
CSU Bakersfield was led by 16 points each from Jaylin Airington and Aly Ahmed. The Runners were aided by 24-of-36 shooting on free throws as they advanced to the semifinals.
Chicago State was led by 15 points from Anthony Eaves and a game-high 11 rebounds from Trayvon Palmer.
