DENVER - Seattle U's Connor Leahy and Missouri-Kansas City's Marina Albert have been named Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for March 7-13.

Leahy, a junior from Portland, Ore. (Jesuit) was the only Redhawk to win both singles matches and both doubles matches in a pair of close victories over the weekend. Leahy has also won 8 of his last 9 singles matches and is on a 9-match doubles winning streak with partner John Stormans. He gave Seattle U a 1-0 lead, winning the first singles match to finish in an eventual 4-3 victory vs. Swarthmore in which singles were played first on Mar. 10. Leahy also gave the Redhawks their first lead, 2-1, vs. Pacific (Ore.) en route to their comeback and a 4-3 win on Mar. 12.

Albert, a sophomore from Thebes, Egypt (Thebes American College) went 2-0 in doubles and 1-1 in singles on the week, against Northwest Missouri State and No. 33 ranked Arkansas. Against the Division II Bearcats, she and partner Linda Ammar Mouhoub picked up a 6-2 doubles win, before going into singles play and taking a straight set victory over Margaux Jacquet at the No. 4 position. Against Arkansas, her doubles team at No. 3 picked up the lone win of the dual for the Roos with a 6-3 decision. She followed in singles play with a loss at No. 3. On the season, she leads the Roos with a 7-5 dual doubles record.

Other men's nominees: NM State's Mauri Benitez reeled off back-to-back wins in singles play, and helped NM State win an ever so crucial doubles point to beat San Francisco, 4-3. UT Rio Grande Valley's Koby Jansen went 1-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles over the weekend. Jansen split sets with Rice's Emanuel Llamas before the match went unfinished. He turned around and defeated Nicholls State's Max Sinn 6-3, 6-0 on court 3. It was Jansen's seventh single win of the season as he has wins at the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots. In doubles, Jansen teamed with Juan Cruz Soria over the weekend. They were up 5-4 against Jamie Malik and Zach Yablon on court one before the match went unfinished. They picked up their team leading fifth doubles win with a 6-3 victory over Oleksander Podgursky and Kieran Cronin.

Other women's nominees: UT Rio Grande Valley's Reegan Greenwood recorded her 46th career singles victory over the weekend after defeating Prairie View A&M's Neharika Rama 6-4, 6-4 on court one. She remains in seventh place on the program's all-time singles wins list and is one win behind Silke Buksik (2005-08) for sixth place. In doubles, Greenwood teamed with Tara Donaho to record a 6-3 win over Neharika Rama and Stacy Lackey for their first win of the season as a team.
