Marlon Edge Hired as Assistant Commissioner for Compliance

DENVER - Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced the hiring of Marlon Edge as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance. He begins March 14.

Edge will oversee all compliance activities related to NCAA and WAC rules and regulations including the processing of all rules violations, managing WAC involvement in all aspects of NCAA governance and the National Letter of Intent program for conference members. He will also coordinate ongoing rules education and manage the conference's legislative processes and agenda. In addition, he will serve as the liaison for the Faculty Athletics Representatives and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (WAC SAAC).

"I am very excited and honored to be joining the Western Athletic Conference staff," Edge said. "I look forward to being a part of the WAC team and working to fulfill the vision of the league and its member institutions."

Edge has spent the past 13 years at the Mountain West Conference. He currently is the Director of Compliance, a position he has held since July of 2011. He was the MWC's Assistant Director of Compliance for one year and was an Assistant Communications Director from 2001-2010. Edge is a member of the NCAA Division I Eligibility Center Advisory Group and the NCAA Requests/Self-Report Online Feedback Team. He also serves as the Conference liaison to the Mountain West Academic Directors Committee and Mountain West SAAC.

Edge earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from San Diego State and a master's degree with an emphasis in business administration from Colorado State University-Pueblo. He and his wife, Jenny, have two daughters, Maylin and Kennedy.
