GCU'S MEDINA, SEATTLE U'S REUBLE NAMED WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Grand Canyon's Brittany Medina and Seattle U's Alyssa Reuble have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for March 21-27. This is the first-ever honor for both.
Medina, a sophomore utility player from Chandler, Ariz., hit 1.000 (5-for-5) with a double, a home run and five RBIs in a midweek doubleheader sweep at Loyola Marymount last week. She posted a 1.800 slugging percentage and a 1.000 on-base percentage and accounted for five of the 12 Grand Canyon RBIs in the twinbill. In the first game with the Lopes up 7-5, Medina hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning that put the game out of reach. In 21 games played this season, she has 15 RBIs.
Reuble, a junior from Lynnwood, Wash., went 4-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 17 strikeouts last week. She held opponents to a .208 batting average and issued just three walks over 26 innings. Reuble, who entered the week 1-5 on the season, picked up all four wins for the Redhawks on the week, including three complete-game victories. She opened the week with a relief win vs. Portland State and followed it up with a shutout of host UC Santa Barbara in the Gaucho Classic II. In a 3-1 win over San Diego on March 25, Reuble struck out a career-high nine batters and allowed just one unearned run on five hits. She closed out the week with a win over Santa Clara, striking out three.
Other Hitter of the Week nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Julea Cavazos hit .474 with nine hits, including a double, in six games ... Alexandra Friloux of Missouri-Kansas City appeared in her first game in nearly a month and went 1-for-2 from the plate, driving in two of the team's four runs against No. 13 Oklahoma ... Seattle U's Paige Bouska hit .423 with two doubles and two RBIs over seven games last week.
Other Pitcher of the Week nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Amber Mills went 1-2 with a 1.79 ERA in five appearances last week ... Taylor Nowlin of Grand Canyon went 2-0 with a 0.88 ERA and nine strikeouts in two appearances over 8.0 innings against Loyola Marymount last Wednesday ... UMKC's Katie Kelley made her seventh-consecutive appearance without allowing an earned run, pitching 5.1 innings against No. 13 Oklahoma, allowing eight hits and striking out two, but four UMKC errors led to six unearned runs on Kelley's line.
UMKC SCORES MOST RUNS EVER AGAINST OKLAHOMA
On March 26, Missouri-Kansas City scored the most runs in a game against Oklahoma in the history of the series, plating four runs in the series finale at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City. All three senior captains - Alexandra Friloux, Katie Kelley and Brooke Parker - drove in a run in the 8-4 loss, with Friloux driving in two in her first appearance in nearly a month.
GRAND CANYON POSTS 17 HITS AGAINST LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
Grand Canyon improved to 25-10 last Wednesday after sweeping Loyola Marymount in a midweek doubleheader in Los Angeles. The Lopes recorded their second highest hit total of the season in the first game, when they scored 12 runs on 17 hits. On the afternoon, GCU collected 15 runs on 24 hits, with five doubles and two home runs. GCU had a season-high 23 hits in the season opener against UMBC.
UMKC'S KELLEY HAS SEVEN APPEARANCES WITHOUT ALLOWING AN EARNED RUN

UTAH VALLEY ON 16-GAME SKID
After dropping its lone game last week at Brigham Young, Utah Valley enters WAC play this weekend on a 16-game losing streak, its longest such streak in its Division I history. The Wolverines had their best chance to snap the streak on March 11 against the Big 12's Iowa State, holding to a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, but the game was halted due to rain and after an hour delay was called and ruled as a no-contest because it didn't go the full four innings. Six of the 16 losses have been decided by just a single run.
NM STATE'S ADAMS LEADS NATION IN SACRIFICE FLIES
NM State senior Emma Adams currently leads the nation with four sacrifice flies this season. Teammate Kelsey Horton and Seattle U's Maddy Kristjanson are tied for 19th place with three each.
