WAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Grand Canyon's Felix Schueller and NM State's Rimpledeep Kaur have been named Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for March 21-27.

Schueller, a senior from Amstetten, Austria (BRG Ostarrichi Amstetten) helped GCU go 3-0 on the week in the first WAC cluster of the season with wins against UT Rio Grande Valley, 6-1, Chicago State, 7-0 and defending WAC Champ, NM State 4-3. After the Aggies took the match on court 2, it came down to Schueller and his partner Alexander Roggenkamp on court 1 and when the Lopes needed their top due to step up, Schueller and Roggenkamp delivered with a 6-3 win, clinching the doubles point for GCU.

Kaur, a sophomore from Jassowal, India (Harvest International School & Tennis Academy) continued her tear on the tennis courts on Easter Sunday, winning all four of her matches in singles and doubles. In singles action, Kaur gave up just three points against her opponents at the No. 1 position. Against Texas-Permian Basin, Kaur nearly blanked Lisa Roslanova 6-0, 6-1. In her second singles match, Kaur flexed her muscles with another dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory. Teaming up with teammate Ashvarya Shrivastav, the two cruised to a pair of wins over UTPB and WNMU's doubles team 6-4 and 6-1, respectively. Kaur has now won five-straight singles matches and seven of her last eight. In her last five matches, Kaur has only given up five points in total. She's also won four of her last five doubles matches in dual play.

Other men's nominees: Missouri-Kansas City's Uldis Gaismins helped UMKC extend its win streak to six matches overall, and start 2-0 in WAC play, going a perfect 3-0 in both singles and doubles. He started the week with a straight-set win against McPherson College, while posting an easy 6-2 doubles victory with partner Amaury Navette. He followed in WAC play with a perfect start, playing at the No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles positions both days. NM State's Liam Goldberg played an integral role in NM State winning five-straight matches before the Aggies saw their streak snapped by preseason favorite, Grand Canyon. However, Goldberg did everything in his power to give his team the win, tallying wins in every singles and doubles match this past conference cluster. The Melbourne, Australia, product went 3-0 at the No. 3 singles position, including his fifth-straight in singles action at weekend's end. Goldberg has been especially successful in doubles play since teaming up with Stijn de Haan at the No. 2 slot. Goldberg has now won eight-straight doubles matches, including seven with de Haan. UT Rio Grande Valley's Juan Cruz Soria went 2-1 in singles over the weekend as he improved to 12-5 in the dual match season. He defeated GCU's Mitch Maroscher 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 to record the lone point for the Vaqueros against the Antelopes. He closed out the weekend with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Seattle U's Ian Clare on Saturday. With the two wins, Soria ties his win total from last season. Soria teamed with Koby Jansen to record one win over the weekend as they defeated Seattle U's Tanner Berkabile and Matt Alderson 6-2. It was their team-leading sixth doubles win of the season.

Other women's nominees: UT Rio Grande Valley's Tara Donaho won her seventh straight singles match after defeating Central Arkansas' Krizia Buck 6-2, 2-6, 10-3. Donaho improved to 9-2 on the season, which leads the team. Donaho is 8-2 in her last 10 matches.

CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State men's tennis opened Western Athletic Conference play here today with a 7-0 defeat to Missouri-Kansas City in the conference opener for both teams at the NMSU Tennis Complex on the campus of New Mexico State. THEY concluded the first Western Athletic Conference cluster of the season here this afternoon after dropping a 7-0 decision to Grand Canyon at the NMSU Tennis Complex on the campus of New Mexico State University.

GRAND CANYON
The Grand Canyon men's tennis team went into the weekend picked as the favorites in the Western Athletic Conference and head coach Greg Prudhomme's squad performed like the best team in the WAC. GCU capped off a perfect 3-0 weekend in the WAC on the road with a 4-3 win over the defending WAC champion New Mexico State.

MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY
The UMKC men's tennis squad had to come from behind, and took a crucial 4-3 win over Seattle Friday in Las Cruces, moving to 2-0 in WAC play. UMKC women's tennis took care of business on Tuesday afternoon at the Plaza Tennis Center, knocking off McPherson College by a 7-0 score. The UMKC women's tennis squad ran into a tough Kansas State team on Saturday afternoon at the Carriage Club in Kansas City, falling 7-0.

NM STATE
NM State men have now won five of its last six matches. New Mexico State's women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins on Easter Sunday with sweeps of Texas-Permian Basin and Western New Mexico at the NMSU Tennis Center. The wins extended NM State's winning-streak to five on the season, its longest this year, and put the Aggies at 7-7 overall and 2-0 in Western Athletic Conference play.

SEATTLE U
After winning the doubles point, Seattle U played a close, hard-fought match with UMKC but ultimately ended just short, dropping the match 4-3 in WAC play. They once again picked up the doubles point but won only one of five singles matches as UTRGV (9-12, 1-2 WAC) picked up a 5-2 victory.

UT RIO GRANDE VALLEY
The Vaquero men went 1-2 in the first WAC cluster of the season with their only win coming against Seattle U on Saturday. Juan Cruz Soria improved to 12-5 on the season,which leads the team, after going 2-1 in singles. The Vaqueros will face Laredo Community College on Thursday in their final home match of the season. The Vaquero women dropped their lone match of the weekend as they lost 2-5 to Central Arkansas. Tara Donaho and Natacha Minc recorded the points for the Vaqueros. Donaho improves to a team best 9-2 on the season and is riding a seven-match win streak. The Vaqueros next face Valparaiso before heading to Chicago for the final WAC cluster to face Grand Canyon and Seattle U.

WAC ANNOUNCES PRE-CONFERENCE MEN'S TENNIS COACHES POLL
The Western Athletic Conference announced its men's tennis pre-conference coaches polls, as voted on by the six head coaches in the league. Grand Canyon was selected as the pre-season favorite.

Grand Canyon was picked as the favorite with four first-place votes and 24 points overall. NM State captured second place with 21 points and two first-place votes. Right behind the Aggies is UT Rio Grande Valley with 16 points. Missouri-Kansas City with 15 points and Seattle U with 9 points grab the fourth and fifth spots and Chicago State rounds out the poll with five points.

The 2016 Western Athletic Conference Tennis championships will be hosted by UT Rio Grande Valley and will take place in Brownsville, Texas, April 29-May 1.

WAC ANNOUNCES PRE-CONFERENCE WOMEN'S TENNIS COACHES POLL
The Western Athletic Conference announced its women's tennis pre-season coaches polls, as voted on by the six head coaches in the league. Grand Canyon and NM State were selected as the pre-season favorites.

Grand Canyon and NM State tied as the favorite to win the conference championship with three first-place votes and 23 total points. Missouri-Kansas City, Seattle U and UT Rio Grande Valley were close behind, earning 13 points each. Chicago State rounds out the poll in sixth place with five points.

The 2016 Western Athletic Conference Tennis championships will be hosted by UT Rio Grande Valley and will take place in Brownsville, Texas, April 29-May 1.

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2016 WAC Tennis Championship travels to Brownsville, Texas from April 29th to May 1st. This year's championships will be hosted by Texas Rio Grand Valley. The New Mexico State men will look to repeat a WAC title. The Grand Canyon women won the regular season while New Mexico State won the tournament last season.

The USTA/ITA Regional Championships will feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 USTA/ITA Regional Championships around the country.
