DENVER - UT Rio Grande Valley's Hildur Björg Kjartansdóttir has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for March 1 through March 6.
Kjartansdóttir, a sophomore from Stykkishólmur, Iceland (Snæfell), tied her career-high with 17 points and set a new career-high with 15 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season as the Vaqueros handed NM State its first and only conference loss of the season. In addition to her points and rebounds, she recorded two assists and two steals as UTRGV secured the second seed in the upcoming WAC Tournament in Las Vegas.
