LAS VEGAS - Second-seeded UT Rio Grande Valley overcame a nine-point second-half deficit to defeat No. 7 Chicago State 50-43 in the second game of the WAC Tournament Wednesday.
Chicago State out-shot UTRGV 41 percent to 34 percent from the field and 50 percent to just six percent from three-point range, but the Cougars committed 24 turnovers in the loss.
Shawnte Goff led three Vaqueros in double figures with 22 points. Hildur Björg Kjartansdóttir posted her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Rickell Preston scored 12 points with a career-high and WAC Tournament-tying seven steals.
Konner Harris led the Cougars with 13 points, while Layne Murphy posted her WAC-leading 12th double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
