DENVER - Grand Canyon's Joshua Braun and NM State's Pascal Siakam were two of 31 players named to the 2016 Lou Henson All-America Team on Friday as finalists for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year. The award, which is presented to the top mid-major player in the nation by CollegeInsider.com, will be announced next Monday.
Braun, a first team All-WAC selection, led the WAC in free throw percentage (86.8), ranked second in scoring (16.5), third in three-point field goal percentage (39.2), fifth in three-pointers per game (2.15) and 10th in blocked shots (0.68). Braun was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Region 6 Team.
Siakam, the unanimous WAC Player of the Year, was an AP honorable mention All-American, and was also selected first team All-WAC, to the WAC All-Defensive Team, to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District VIII Team and the NABC All-Region 6 Team. He leads the nation with 27 double-doubles, ranking eighth nationally in rebounding (11.6) and 25th in scoring (20.3). Siakam was also named WAC Player of the Week an unprecedented five times this season.
Now in its seventh year, the Lou Henson Award honors National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame coach and Aggie legend Lou Henson who directed both NM State and Illinois to the Final Four in his illustrious 41-year coaching career.
