DENVER - Defending champion NM State was selected as the favorite to win the 2016 Western Athletic Conference women's golf title in a vote of the league's head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.
The Aggies, who won last year's title by 34 strokes and the 2014 title by six strokes, received five of six possible first place votes to earn 35 of 36 possible points. Seattle U and Missouri-Kansas City received the two remaining first place votes, with the Redhawks edging out the ‘Roos for second place in the pre-championship poll. Utah Valley was selected to finish fourth, followed by CSU Bakersfield, UT Rio Grande Valley and Chicago State.
The 2016 WAC Women's Golf Championship tees off on Friday morning at 8 a.m. PT at Semiahmoo Country Club in Blaine, Wash.
