BLAINE, Wash. - Shooting an even-par 72, NM State sophomore Kennedie Montoya led the Aggies to a third-straight WAC Championship, winning the individual title on Sunday afternoon at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club.
Montoya recorded a par on the 18th hole to clinch medalist honors by two strokes over teammate Viviana Macias and Dorsey Addicks of Seattle U. Macias had the shot of the day, recording a hole-in-one on the par-three third hole.
As a team, the Aggies finished 16-strokes ahead of second-place Seattle U. NM State was 20-over-par at 884, shooting just 3-over-par as a team over the final 36 holes. Seattle U shot a 36-over-par 900, followed by Utah Valley (912), Missouri-Kansas City (920), UT Rio Grande Valley (942), Chicago State (961) and CSU Bakersfield (974).
The 2015-16 All-WAC teams and individual awards were also announced. NM State's Jackie Booth was named Coach of the Year. UMKC's Cynthia Diaz was named Freshman of the year and Macias was named Player of the Year.
