DENVER - Grand Canyon's Felix Schueller and Tatum Prudhomme have been named Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for April 18-24.
Schueller, a senior from Amstetten, Austria (BG/BRG Ostarrichi Amstten) was crowned the Ojai Tournament champion going 4-0 in singles on the week. He went 12-8 overall in singles during regular season and ended his GCU career as the Ojai Tournament champion.
Prudhomme, a junior from Glendale, Ariz. (Connections Academy) reached the semifinals in both singles and doubles in the Ojai Tournament, going 3-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles with partner Susan Baklini.
Other men's nominees: Missouri-Kansas City's Airam Castellano won his 11th straight singles decision and six straight doubles match. He extended his own school records with his 25th singles win and 23 doubles wins this season which sits 8th in career singles wins. The sophomore has moved into a tie for 11th with 39 career doubles wins. Seattle U's Brian Nguyen won both his singles match and doubles match with partner Michael Schoettler on Senior Day. Nguyen finished his regular season career winning three of his last four doubles matches with partners Jeremiah Kalmus and Schoettler. He also won his first singles match of the spring season on Senior Day.
