2016 WAC Men's Golf Championship Day One Recap

BLAINE, Wash. - The 2016 WAC Men's Golf Championship began under sunny skies on Saturday and it is Missouri-Kansas City holding the early lead at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Wash.

The 'Roos were consistent all day, shooting a 5-under-par 283 to take the early lead. Led by senior Antoine Rozner, who shot a 2-under-par 70, UMKC will enter Sunday with a seven-stroke lead. The trio of Francois Lagraulet, Thibault Vieilledent and Jakob Garstecki all shot 1-under-par 71s to held the team on day one.

Seattle U is second behind a 2-under-par 70 from Ross Kukula. The Redhawks finished the first round 2-over-par as a team with a 290. Utah Valley is third at 5-over-par 293 after a 5-under-par 67 from Perry Wright, who will take a three-stroke individual lead into the second round.

Defending champion NM State is fourth with a 13-over-par 301, followed by UT Rio Grande Valley, CSU Bakersfield and Chcaigo State.

The tournament continues on Sunday morning with the first groups set to tee off at 8 a.m local time.
